The Dozor-B Tactical Combat Wheeled Vehicle is a detailed DIY wooden model inspired by the real-world Ukrainian armoured personnel carrier designed for transport, patrol and support operations. Featuring all-wheel drive, full suspension and a spring-powered motor, this mechanical model combines realistic functionality with intricate engineering in a hands-on build experience.

The real Dozor-B was developed as a lightweight multi-purpose armoured vehicle capable of transporting personnel, equipment and supplies in demanding conditions. Its design includes separate driving, combat and troop compartments, along with protective armour and systems intended to operate across a range of environments.

This wooden scale model captures many of those distinctive design elements. Functional features include opening driver and passenger doors, plus opening top and rear hatches that reveal a detailed troop compartment complete with bench seating and elastic seat belts. Decorative exterior details include laser-engraved rivets, spare fuel cans mounted to the rear hatch, and a tool rack fitted with miniature recovery tools.

The model is powered by a spring motor wound using a ratchet knob mounted on the roof. Once activated using the side-mounted start/stop lever, all four wheels engage to drive the vehicle forward. A working front-mounted winch adds another layer of mechanical realism. Extend the winch cable, secure it to a fixed object, and the model can pull itself forward in a simulated recovery manoeuvre.

Containing 300 parts, the Dozor-B model is rated “Medium” difficulty and offers around 8 hours of assembly time. All components are precision laser-cut from quality plywood and fit together without glue or special tools. Illustrated step-by-step instructions guide the construction process, while light sanding and lubrication of moving parts help ensure smooth operation.

Designed with long-term functionality in mind, the suspension and winch rubber bands can be replaced without dismantling the entire model. The finished vehicle can be left in its natural timber finish, painted in military-inspired colours, or customised with your own creative design.
