Motors and ESC's

Power your RC car with our range of motors and electronic speed controllers (ESCs). Whether you’re replacing a standard setup or upgrading performance, choosing a compatible motor and ESC helps deliver smooth throttle control and reliable power.

What to look for when choosing a motor or ESC:

• Brushed or brushless: Match your ESC to your motor type. Brushed systems are simple and affordable, while brushless systems generally offer greater efficiency and performance. Some ESCs support both types—check the specifications.
• Size and fit: Check the motor’s dimensions, mounting holes, shaft diameter and pinion compatibility. Your ESC also needs to fit securely within the chassis.
• Motor kV or turns: For brushless motors, a higher kV means a higher unloaded RPM per volt—not necessarily more torque or a better setup. Brushed motors often use a turns rating, with fewer turns generally meaning higher speed within the same motor range.
• Battery compatibility: Check that both the motor and ESC support your battery’s voltage and cell count. An ESC rated for 3S doesn’t automatically mean your motor or drivetrain can handle 3S.
• ESC motor limits: Choose an ESC suitable for your vehicle’s size, intended use and motor. Follow its stated motor limits as well as its current rating.
• Sensored or sensorless: Sensored brushless systems offer smooth, precise low-speed control, making them popular for crawling and racing. To use sensor operation, you need a compatible sensored motor, ESC and sensor connection.
• Water resistance: Check the ratings of both components if you drive in wet conditions. A waterproof ESC doesn’t make the entire vehicle waterproof.

Installation tips: Follow the manufacturer’s setup instructions and calibrate the ESC to your transmitter where required. Set the correct battery mode and LiPo low-voltage protection, check connector polarity, and use suitable gearing. Monitor motor and ESC temperatures during your first runs—incorrect gearing or a binding drivetrain can cause overheating and damage.
