The M4 medium tank is a 30-ton class medium tank developed and manufactured in the United States during World War II, known for its high mobility and firepower.

The M4A1, featuring a cast upper hull, began mass production in February 1942, shortly after the United States entered the war, and was first deployed in combat during the Second Battle of El Alamein. Compared to the M4 with its welded steel hull, the M4A1-equipped with the same air-cooled radial engine-had slightly reduced interior space, but its rounded hull shape offered superior ballistic deflection.

The M4A1(76)W is a variant equipped with the T23 turret mounting a 76mm gun, featuring a larger driver's hatch and a wet ammunition storage system. It was first deployed in combat during Operation Cobra in July 1944.
